DMH-Aadhar conducted a market research to understand demand of local community and to upgrade its services to meet consumer demands. Research findings showed that Kolhapur region needs more tertiary & critical care beds at affordable cost. There is significant outflow of patients from Kolhapur to Pune & Mumbai for high end medical intervention. These needy patients have to bear extra cost of travel & stay in these metro towns in addition to medical expenses. The medical bills are also substantially higher in these metros. Understanding this plight of patients, DMH - Aadhar JV has decided to bring accessible & affordable tertiary care at the doorsteps of residents of Kolhapur and adjoining areas.

DMH-Aadhar is setting up a new hospital of 250 beds capacity at Pratibha Nagar, Kolhapur. In the first phase 150 beds will be commissioned by Dec 2010.

This new hospital will have

• 250 beds with 30 high end critical care beds (ICU / NICU / PICU)
• Five high end Operation Theatres
• Advanced medical technology will be deployed to support medical team and offer best medical environment for treatment.
• Specialty services: Hospital will have experienced medical team in following specialties which would be functional as Centre of Excellence - Orthopaedics, Gastroenterology, Neuro-sciences, Cardiac-sciences.

Once the new hospital is firmly established, the existing 100 beds current hospital will be transformed into a state-of-art Mother & Child Care unit
